Those Manatees Again!

After publishing my *free* Florida block featuring manatees (scroll down the posts to see it and get it)...I just couldn't let it go.

We've been wanting a large, peaceful piece of art for our bedroom and it finally clicked.  I had a 3 yard piece of wavy fabric that was curing for the right project and so this quilt banner will be 9 feet long!  Lots of room for manatees, a few fish and turtles and lots of healthy grass.

It's been so refreshing to work on a "just for me" project.  It's very relaxing and rewarding to simply sit and cut out grass...haha! I highly encourage you to cut some grass, you can't do it wrong.  I'm still thinking about how I'm going to manage pressing it all down so that I can roll it to quilt it, but I'll get it figured out.

I'm currently working on a design wall made of insulation foam and covered with batting...in theory I can press right on it but the last time I tried that I ended up with a distinct impression of an iron right in the middle of the wall.  It made me laugh every time I encountered it.  I think my little travel iron and some patience might be the key.

I'll keep you updated, but in the meantime, be encourage to do some quilting for the pure fun of it!

And, yes, we have the manatee and turtle templates on our website.  We're still working on the fish.
